Sergey "George" Petrushin and Michael Caputo first worked together in Moscow at The Florence Group, one of the first Western-standard public relations companies to operate in post-Soviet Russia. From 1994 to 2000, Petrushin and Caputo organized many unique projects in Russia: youth conferences, US companies' entry into the emerging market and Choose or Lose, the national young voter campaign credited with helping Boris Yeltsin win his 1996 election to President of Russian Federation.

At The Florence Group, Caputo provided government relations, media liaison, message development, and executive communications services. Petrushin directed brand initiatives, special events, music coordination, and general promotion activities. This combination of above-the-line and below-the-line expertise proved a successful partnership.

In the wake of the 1998 devaluation of the ruble and the subsequent Russian economic meltdown, Caputo returned to the United States. Petrushin remained in Moscow and leveraged his event management and public relations acumen across the next decade. At Michael Caputo Public Relations (CPR), founded in 2003, Caputo advised top companies and CEOs in the United States while Zeppelin Productions, established by Petrushin in 2011, developed into one of the most well-known public relations companies in the Russian Federation representing some of the world's most recognizable brands.

Meanwhile, the two former partners stayed in close contact, meeting often. In 2015, the two re-established their successful partnership at CPR, with offices and staff in Miami Beach, New York and Moscow.
